In January 2009 following the Diocesan Synod, Bishop Bootkowski issued the Synod Norms for the Diocese and a three year implementation plan for all parishes. The Synod Norms included the call for each parish to provide opportunities for intergenerational family faith formation as an integral part of the parish’s catechetical program. Such opportunities will include catechesis, prayer and service opportunities. As the Church so often reminds us, parents are the first and primary educators of their children. We are therefore attempting to offer more support for our families by offering you the opportunity to be more involved in passing on the faith to your children.
Our Religious Education Program now consists of attending a faith formation session and Mass together on the third weekend of the month followed with students and their families. Please note that younger siblings and grandparents are most welcome to join us! In addition, families take home literature that will encourage family participation in the sharing of the faith that will be due back at the next session.
In addition, only those students who are preparing to receive sacraments in the spring, come together by grade/age group on the first Sunday of the month after the 8 am mass for an hour lesson for their sacrament preparation. These students also attend their Retreat Days and Penance services during the year.
