We’ve been informed by the New Brunswick Parking Authority about recent changes to the way in which vouchers for use in the Gateway Garage are being allocated. The parish office must now request vouchers every two weeks and the vouchers themselves are only valid for Sunday use. Some have informed us that this is creating a problem when attending church functions during the week, while others have told us that some of the Sunday vouchers are not being accepted in the garage. We are working to address this issue with the NB Parking Authority. I apologize for any inconvenience this current situation may be causing you.
Discounted parking in the Gateway Deck is available for Mass and other church functions. We will be happy to provide a voucher which is good for four hours of free parking. For Sunday Mass especially, we encourage those who are younger and more able-bodied to use the Gateway Deck.
Instructions for using parking vouchers at the Gateway Deck
On-street parking is available along Somerset Street, College Avenue, and George Street. On-street parking is free before 8 AM and after 6 PM, and on Sundays. Please note that on Saturdays, parking on Somerset Street only is free after 4 PM. On the other surrounding streets, meters are in effect until 6 PM on Saturdays.
For special events, red bags may be placed over the meters along Somerset Street to ensure the availability of on-street parking for our parishioners and guests.
Parking is also available next to the Catholic Center at Rutgers (84 Somerset Street). The entrance gate is left open for all Masses. For other meetings or appointments at times when the gate is down, please use the intercom button to request entry from the front desk. The exit gate automatically opens when approached. When parking in the Catholic Center lot, blocking in other vehicles is prohibited.
