We often think of evangelization as an activity of our Protestant brethren, or as the work of professional missionaries – priests, religious and laypeople who travel to exotic lands proclaiming Jesus Christ to people who have never heard of Him, in order to gain converts and expand the institutional Church.
But today, we are clearly in the age of the “New Evangelization”, an effort to reinvigorate the Church by proclaiming Christ anew. We seek for ourselves and for each other to foster an experience of conversion and renewal of heart, leading to a more active and faithful living of our mission as disciples of Christ and members of the Catholic Church. Each of us is called to participate in this New Evangelization, deepening our own experience of the love of Christ and increasing our desire to share that love with others.
