The Community Outreach Ministry consists of organizing and facilitating various projects that seek to have a positive and charitable impact on people in the local community of New Brunswick. Members of the parish are invited to participate in and support these projects.
Keep attuned to the parish bulletin and Mass announcements for information about how to become involved. Please call the Parish Office if you have any questions.
The Community Outreach Ministry coordinates the following projects through which we seek to put our faith into action by serving those in need:
For several weeks before Christmas, hundreds of ornament tags are hung on a couple of trees in the church side entranceways. Each tag identifies a gift for either a needy child or family, an elderly nursing home resident or a veteran. Parishioners are invited to take tags and return with the specified gifts. The gifts are then distributed.
Volunteers are welcome to assist with the set up, sorting and delivering.
During the cold winter months various houses of worship throughout New Brunswick take turns hosting a group of homeless men one week at a time. St. Peter’s usually hosts the shelter in the parish hall on two separate weeks.
There are many different opportunities for volunteers to be involved with the men’s homeless shelter: overnight monitors, food preparers and servers, cleaners.
Help prepare the evening meal on fifth Fridays.
Monthly collection of non-perishable food items, on the second Sunday of the month. Donations can be dropped off in the church vestibule, on the right.
Collection, assembly and distribution.
Meets Monday evenings at 7:00pm in the Catholic Center to create hats, scarves and gloves for our less fortunate neighbors at the area's homeless shelters, as well as infant blankets and newborn caps. It's an opportunity to enjoy a relaxing hobby and enjoy each other's company while giving back to the community.
Beneficiaries:

Volunteering:
Anyone who is interested is welcome, male or female, young or old. If you don't know how to knit or crochet, someone will gladly teach you. If you can't attend but would like to help, we can provide you with yarn and needed instructions.
Donations:
If you are unable to knit but would like to support our efforts, donations will be greatly appreciated. Please bring full skeins of worsted weight or baby weight yarns to the Catholic Center. Monetary contributions will allow us to purchase additional yarn as needed. Thank you for your generosity!

A NEW outreach and 12-session program to promote healing, spiritual support and practical guidance to those who have experienced the trauma of divorce or separation. The program affirms Christ’s invitation to discipleship to all. You have a place in the parish family and in the Catholic Church.
Once the series begins the meetings are closed in order to maintain confidentiality. The 12-week program will begin again in September and meet at 7pm on Thursdays.
