Tomorrow morning, Sunday, March 22, the 11AM Mass will be live on Facebook. If you are already on Facebook, go to our page at "
St. Peter the Apostle University and Community Parish". Please don't forget to "like" us if you haven't already so that our feeds will appear on your home page. It's a good way to stay current on news and information effecting our parish. The video of the 11AM Mass will also appear on our parish website for viewing following the live broadcast.
When you watch the broadcast of the Mass, I invite you to enter into it as if you are in church. If you have a candle in your home, light it as a reminder of God's presence with you. If you can, gather the family. Turn off the TV, silence the cell phone, and try to reduce or eliminate any other distractions as far as possible when we're praying together as a virtual community. Follow the readings and texts of the Mass with a missal or other worship aid if you have one.
At Holy Communion, I invite you to make an act of
spiritual communion, which I have attached below, to express your desire to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. Let us offer this time of prayer tomorrow for the sick and their care-givers.
Our parish subscribes to "Formed", an online catechetical and spiritual formation program that we're using for our religious education program. But it's also available for general use by the parish. It contains great material to help us grow in our relationship with the Lord through our own continuing formation in faith and prayer. To access "Formed" go to FORMED.ORG. and click on the sign-up tab. You will be asked what parish you belong to. Type in "St. Peter the Apostle University and Community Parish". Click on our address when it is displayed (be precise with our parish's name. There are many St. Peter Churches in the program!). Type in your email address and you will automatically be signed in.
Sr. Lorraine Doiron has compiled a few suggested resources for you to use during this time when Mass and other parish activities have been suspended. They are as follows:
More on the Annunciation - These are 20-30-minute video taken from a great series on Mary in the Bible. If you have time this is a great series to watch.
Sunday Gospel Meditation - This Gospel reminds us that the way we see best, is through the eyes of faith, for then we see the world the way God sees it. But first we have to recognize that without Jesus, we are truly blind.
Don't forget to click around the site for other material of interest to you.
I'll be with you tomorrow in the Eucharist - 11AM on Facebook. Ora pro invicem!
Let us pray for one another.
